The following are genuine references that have been provided by my students, which testify the quality of service I offer.
Craig Daines / Ford writes: "Dominic is an accomplished guitar teacher with a high level of knowledge. He is able to adapt his knowledge to suit his students, be they young or old, and to relay information in a clear and concise manner. Always patient, and is able to adapt his teaching methods in particular areas where his students need to brush upon.
Most of all, he makes music a fun experience. He is highly recommended by myself. At present, I am about to take my RGT grade 3 exam."
Harry Dutton / Slindon writes: "Dominic is a great teacher. His teaching is totally geared to Harry’s developing needs and interests. Dominic is sensitive and motivating and provides a really fun lesson as well achieving a huge amount during the hour. Polly Dutton (Harry's mum)."
I'm learning all my favourite songs like American idiot, Good riddance (time of your life) by Green Day as well as Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple. Dominic is great fun and he makes me laugh. I'm learning a lot of new chords and songs.
Colin Davies / Storrington writes: "I first met Dominic in September 2008 at Storrington school evening classes. I had been trying to teach myself for a couple of years but found I hit a few barriers, so i asked Dominic for extra lessons. Dominic since then has helped me achieve a lot of my goals including playing the blues and helped me break out of a few boxes, focusing on rhythm techniques and blues shuffles, we are now currently studying blues guitar solos and learning to play songs by my favourite artists, BB King, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Johnny Cash & Robert Johnson".
Izabella Ingram / Fittleworth writes: "I have tried to learn to play the guitar by myself, but learning with Dominic is so much easier and encouraging. We have covered a lot of techniques I would not have ever of expected learning solo. Dominic is a marvellous teacher who makes learning the guitar fun and exciting. I'm learning all my favourite songs".
Paul Ingram / Fittleworth writes: "Dominic has been my guitar teacher for at least two years and has recently been helping me towards my first RGT grading. He is exceedingly skilful with corresponding depth to his musical knowledge, fortunately patient and has encouraged and guided me in the direction I want to go.
He makes me feel that I can achieve what I want and that I am making progress, but I didn't say it was easy!"
Graham Murphy writes: "I am pleased to offer my experience of Dominic as a one-to-one guitar teacher. Whilst a skilled player himself, he has that rare attribute, often missing in “experts” of remembering of what it was like when he was learning. He listens to you and explains to you with patience and humour and with demonstrations on his own guitar what it is you want to know. He does not “take over” and has the wisdom to sit by and let you make mistakes, offering solutions as you ask for them. If you are interested he can and will explain musical theory in a manner which I found comprehensible and he has a wide range of abilities in terms of different styles of playing and music. He is not a clock watcher, and provides enjoyable and helpful tuition, with great value for money".
Steve Coffin / Bognor Regis writes: "I have known Dominic for years as a friend. I had been trying to teach myself guitar but never learnt to play complete songs, that's when I decided to ask Dominic for guitar lessons to help give me structure to my playing and we are now building up a repertoire of several of my favourite songs which i find very rewarding. Dominic is a very patient and encouraging individual and has given me many varied techniques and tips to practice we have included in our lessons playing both the acoustic and electric guitar to setting up my amp to achieve sounds like my favourite artists, which has helped me dramatically improve my playing abilities".
Colin Humphris / Climping writes: "After a couple of years of attempting self- learning and a winter of evening classes I realised that my playing abilities were reaching a plateau, a low one. I was at that stage where I could strum the chords but was not advancing towards actually playing the guitar. The decision to ask Dominic for one to one lessons is changing with the focus now on how I play and the distinction and colour that can be brought through different playing styles. It’s very rewarding to be learning to play some of my favourite music from the Beatles, the Eagles, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton in a way that others can recognise!"
Colin Fitzgibbon / Chichester writes: "I have always been interested in playing the guitar. I have had other tutors, but I find Dominic has been excellent in helping me achieve some of my musical goals and understand a lot more about the guitar and different styles such as finger picking and lead guitar which I really enjoy. I first heard about Dominic on the "registered guitar tutors" website when I was looking for a new tutor and now he has been teaching me for over eighteen months. He is a more than competent tutor. I have also been along to his Saturday workshops at the WSCC schools which I found really good because it got me playing with some other guitar players and he is now encouraging me to come along to a jam night he is running locally."
David Long / West Chiltington writes: "I go to Dominic's evening class in Storrington as well as having a weekly private lesson. Dominic's relaxed and congenial style of teaching works well. Extremely adaptable, more like a friend than a tutor, he caters for the needs of the less experienced with patience and perseverance, whilst being equally at home teaching advanced techniques to those pupils with greater ability. He obviously lives for his music and, whilst his forte is rock and blues, he seems to be able to turn his hand to almost any other genre or style. Dominic makes every lesson fun and I always look forward to, and enjoy, my weekly lessons with him."
Luke Schalank writes: "Dom has been teaching me for five years now, with a relaxed atmosphere and laid back style has really helped me to improve my playing. I now understand my instrument and can relate it to what I play, allowing me to confidently to play a small repertoire of my favourite songs including Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, as well as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Eagles, as well as some blues standards".
"Dom is a fantastic teacher of guitar at all levels. He taught me the basics and inspired me to learn new songs and gave me enough confidence to even try busking (with the assistance of Dom) although we only got £2 and a euro, it was still worth the experience. If it wasn’t for Dom I would still be doing Kum By Yah ma Lord."
